Posting of pictures, cartoons and smileys are not permitted on Lucianne.com However, you can insert links to an article, picture, cartoon or web site. Here are examples of how to set up Links to other sites on Lucianne Com: The beginning will always start this way: The suffix may be an htm or html or jpg or bmp and so on. Then you close that with a > right bracket. Type the Name you want people to see then after the name put Also, by entering target="_blank" at the end will cause the page to open in a separate page, rather than overwrite your current page. Now some examples: For a link a link to Pinchem's Stuff type: Pinchem's Stuff You will not see all of that on Lucianne's page, you will only see Pinchem's Stuff and underlined. This also comes in handy if you link to an article and it has a very long URL address. With the above you can give it a word or a few words title and that's all they will see. Also this will not throw the Lucianne page out of whack. OK suppose you want folks to see a picture. But we can't put them on Lucianne so the picture has to be on another site or your site or a place like Photobucket, google's picasa or any site that hosts pictures. First, check the size of the picture in your picture viewer. Do not use large pictures, those that may be in the 600 to 1000 range (width or height). Try to resize them to 400 pixels or less (width or height and the other number would be less than that, depending on whether the picture is wider than long, or longer than wide). Many Ldotters do not have web sites. Then you could ask Pinchem or a friend of yours who has a site, to post the picture for you, then link to that site. Let's say you sent it to Pinchem. Now to link to the picture to show people on Lucianne.com you would click post reply, then enter your text then space down 2 spaces and enter: Then space down one or 2 spaces so the picture isn't crowded. That's it. The picture will show up in their browser. Other tips: If you use
or any command that you open with the left bracket < be sure to put closing command with the right > such as
there. Like if you open a fridge door you must close it. The forward slash / represents the close. How do you do Bold, Italics or Underline? You don't want to over do the Bold so it is best to use this for just a few words. Never do an entire post with Bold. Italics would be ok if you are quoting something. To do this you have to use the left bracket, then type the letter B or I or U (doesn't matter if upper or lower case), then use the right backet. After you finish what you want in bold, italics or underline then you must close it with the left and right brackets with a /b /i or /u. If you are posting a comment and want to indicate sarcasm, the ususual way to to type /s (no brackets this time) at the bottom of your post. Or you could put /sarcasm. One other problem some people have is when they want to post an article on Lucianne is if the Headline is a very long one. Pick an appropriate place (maybe in the middle of the headline) enter a br inside the brackets and it will then move the second half of the headline to the next line. Example: Phoenix Spacecraft Beams Home First Images of Martian Arctic Now add a
between Beams and Home then it comes out: Phoenix Spacecraft Beams Home First Images of Martian Arctic Here is why I asked you to download both of these files. Now click on the ldot_how_to_2.htm and you will see how it should appear on a web site. Now it's your turn. If you are using Windows, open a Notepad then type in the links you would like to use, following the examples above. Or type in an image/picture you wish to display. Now Save the Notepad, give it a name you wish with a .htm on the end, (like link.htm) and in a directory where you can find it. Let's say you call it link.htm (yes you can use htm or html, either one will work). Now go into the Directory where you saved it and click (or double click) on link.htm and you should see only the title you gave the link or you should see the picture.
